Best Preply Alternative in Dubai and the UAE (2026): Exam-Board Tutoring for School Subjects
Last updated: October 2026 | By EdFlik Education Team | Competitor details checked October 2026
Preply is best known for language lessons, with 50-minute sessions, a very wide price range and a policy that lets you try more tutors for free if the first is not right. Parents sometimes use it for school subjects as well, and then discover that exam-board knowledge depends entirely on the individual tutor.
EdFlik is an alternative built for school curricula and board exams: a team member matches a teacher to the board and subject, and EdFlik hosts an IGCSE practice platform for Cambridge and Edexcel, all years.
A note on fairness: EdFlik publishes this article, so we have an obvious interest. We have limited ourselves to facts that Preply and independent sources publish, we say when Preply is the better choice, and we flag what we could not verify. Please confirm prices and features on their website before you decide.
The short answer
EdFlik is the better Preply alternative for IGCSE, IB, A-Level, CBSE or AP exam preparation. Preply remains a good option for language learning and for sampling many tutors cheaply. |
Why families look for a Preply alternative
- Language-first: its core strength is languages, not Cambridge or Edexcel mark schemes.
- Lesson length: 50 minutes, so compare prices per hour.
- Wide price range: Dubai category pages list lessons from about US$3 to US$40+.
- Exam depth varies: it depends on the tutor you choose.
